During his residencies in Edward Hopper's former studio in S.Truro, MA on Cape Cod Koch has made a series of paintings of the studio's interior. In 2012 he began a series of paintings of Hopper's boyhood home in Nyack, NY.
Koch returned to the S. Truro studio in Semtember and October of '14 to continue painting. While he is committed to landscape as his primary image, Koch feels an enormous debt of gratitude to Hopper, whose work guided him so well early in his career. These paintings of interiors are meant as an affectionate salute to that grand old man of American realism.
